Borax has been a proven ant killer. The key is making the right ratio of
borax to sugar. Too much borax and the ants won’t take the bait. This is
not a spray formula or a syrup formula. It is a drier mix that gets put in
bait containers and will last for quite a while. The first two days may
bring more ants and then you should see a decrease. There are many types of
ants. If the 6 to 1 ratio isn’t effective, go to a 3 to 1 ratio. The ratio
has been effective on my black sugar ants.

Will borax kill my Tabasco peppers?

  5. Great info. Do ants harm your garden? Or do they just keep beneficial
    insects away?

  6. Get ready for garden ants. A borax bait that will be effective. I use it on
    black sugar ants.

  7. very cool :)

The first time I made one (a few weeks ago), I put too much borax in and
too much liquid thinking it will be more effective. Most ants stayed away
from the bait and I think the ones that died were killed by the fumes LOL I
had the mixture sitting in a couple of lids and they harden up.

I am glad I saw your earlier video, now I have the recipe and a better
method for containers to use. I really appreciate this, thanks Gary.

  9. Must give that a try, thanks for posting Gary, have a good day,
    Frank

  10. Thanks so much ants eat my sweet corn before it’s even ready for
harvest, they farm scale, they eat my stevia,I hate ants.

  11. Thanks so much for this Gary! Silly question though…. I container garden
only, but have ants big time. Should I put a little bait container in each
plant pot, or place one borax/sugar container near each cluster of plant
    pots?

Hi Gary like your video but I wonder if borax is organic and safe I have a
three year old daughter she loves to be in the jarden.

  13. Fantastic as ever, Gary.

Anything for fungus/ fruit gnats share that as well please. ( :

  14. Great video I had tried just mixing the sugar and borax but didn’t work on
the ant piles I have put in the yard but I am going to try your recipe and
see how it works. Great video.

  15. Killing ants/bees in a garden is just plain stupid nonsense.

  16. Lucky thing your ants cant read =)

  17. instead of this just pore boiling hot water down there hole.it cooks the
ants and your not putting chemicals into the earth

  18. How to make Borax ant killer solution-very basic and easy.

  19. This would be great to put next to our peony bushes. Somehow the sugar
ants seem to love peonies and I can never bring the gorgeous flowers inside
because they are covered in ants. Thanks for this tip!

  20. Love it and it works!!!!!!

Side note: I keep noticing the Boxtops on top of the containers and am
    itching to cut them off.

  21. Thanks, Gary! It works well getting rid of the ants in the vegetable
garden—I did go with the screw top idea after reading other comments.
Now, if you’ll make another video on how to get the squirrels to stop
eating my tomatoes? All the pepper in the world is not stopping these Texas
    squirrels!
