How To Hydroponic, would you like a flower or vegetable garden, one where you don’t have to weed, don’t have to dig or prepare the soil, have to worry about how much fertilizer; when to fertilize; too much water; too little water; and how much space to give each plant so they are not competing for food and water, a system that works, no matter whether your a beginner or seasoned grower.

Hydroponics, which comes from the Greek words, hydro (meaning water) and ponos (meaning labour) literally means “water-working”. Simply put Hydroponics means growing plants without soil. Plants do not thrive on soil, they grow in soil, they form a large root system to search for food (nutrients stored in the soil) and they need rain or manual watering. Growing the traditional way you would harvest a plant once or twice a year, once you have learnt how to hydroponic, growing plants in a nutrient water solution, vegetables and fruit can be grown all year round so you are not limited to one season.

Using this method the plant doesn’t need to grow a large root system as food and water are feed directly to the roots, this allows much closer planting, and for the plant to put more energy into growing above the surface. Your plants will grow twice as quick and your crop yield will be the same as from a soil garden but in about a quarter of the space and using about 80% less water, plants are also safe from most soil-borne diseases.

There is a lot to consider before starting, think what do you want to grow when you have decided, which system would suit you best. Factor in the room available, lighting, what time and budget you have? When the questions have been answered, decide whether you build your system or buy a ready made unit. Making the right choice of system is paramount to your hydroponic experience, with your system set up you will find growing plants easier and as rewarding knowing how to hydroponic.
